The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) Advisory Council serves an advisory function for the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) by making recommendations on strategic planning, policies, procedures and new OSP initiatives in support of faculty research and sponsored project endeavors. The council provides guidance on how best OSP can engage faculty in seeking external funding; identifies priorities and strategies for faculty research development and interdisciplinary collaborations; provides a feedback mechanism for SU faculty to the OSP; and cultivates the campus research culture through communication and engagement with the OSP. It consists of 11 members representing the Board of Trustees, alumni, students, faculty and staff. The SU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and its staff serve as the compliance authority and liaison among the federal government, the SU administration, and SU affiliates with research projects involving human subjects. The IRB members and IRB staff review all proposed human subjects research studies from SU faculty, staff, and students, considering ethical considerations, risks for participants, scientific merit, and adherence to state and Federal regulations and SU policies. 鈥疘RB members also educate campus colleagues on human subjects research policies and practices, engage in professional development regarding evolving regulations and guidelines, and participate in efforts to ensure ethical human subjects research standards across campus.
